As you may know – my full-time job is running my photography business Studio 29 Photography. Studio 29 turned 10 in July of this year and continues to grow every single year.
Photography is such a huge part of my life and I thought it would be fun to share some behind-the-scenes of running a successful photography business; editing, gear, press, and some photos of me and Caleb as we work.
Behind the Scenes: Photo Editing
The task of editing can require just as much time and effort as the actual shooting. I import my RAWs to Photo Mechanic and cull through all of the RAW files. I flag, select, and import all of the “keepers” into Lightroom, apply my signature Studio 29 preset, and then make tweaks to make the images perfect. I selected a few images from a recent family session and did a screen-recording of me editing through them so you could see the before and afters as I work on them. Below are some samples of before and after edits, too.
BEFORE: Straight out of my Nikon D810 camera, 24mm, f/4.0, 640 ISO, 1/100 second

Behind the Scenes: Social Media
My new clients find my work on social media platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and simply by a Google Search. I keep up with my Instagram by using Later.com to schedule all of my posts a few days before they go live. It keeps my accounts active and saves me time because they auto-publish! I use Later.com for both my photography business and for posting my blog content.
