Spring Vacation in Scottsdale Arizona. Where we ate and what we did!
Have you ever been to Scottsdale, Arizona? We just got back from a Spring Break 2019 week vacation in Scottsdale with our friends Jess (plays well with butter) and Chris.
Here are some highlights from our vacation & and a bunch of mobile snapshots . . .
We kicked off the trip with brunch at the Breakfast Club, some time in the sunshine by the heated pool, and dinner at Diego Pops.
Tuesday morning we went to the Desert Botanical Garden and saw over 1000 varieties of cacti, before heading to a Milwaukee Brewers spring break training game. After the Brewers game on Tuesday, we went to happy hour and enjoyed carbs and wine. Thank you to everyone who recommended Postino. The varieties of  boards & bruschetta were spectacular! Highly, highly, recommend! This meal was my favorite meal from our trip!
My Wednesday morning was spent with Jess enjoying breakfast, donuts, and too much coffee while Caleb and Chris golfed. I ordered something completely new at Arcadia Farms Cafe for breakfast and was not disappointed! I highly recommend the Crêpes Croque-Monsieur (Crepes filled with ham and cheese, with a creamy béchamel sauce, topped with chopped parsley.) YUM! A unique part about this restaurant is that they offer fleece blankets for those sitting outside because the mornings are a little brisk in Scottsdale. I love blankets!
We enjoyed another Happy Hour at Postino’s sister restaurant, Joyride Taco House. Happy Hour consisted of tasty tacos and tasty variations of Margaritas.
On Thursday the husbands golfed again and Jess and I enjoyed a sunny and relaxing morning by the pool. I loved this downtime and this opportunity to get through some pages of my newest book. After a light lunch consisting of “snacks” we hiked the Camelback Cholla trail. We almost made it to the very top, but because we were tight on time before our dinner reservations we weren’t able to complete it. It was such a gorgeous view and a great workout! Not surprising, hiking Camelback is listed within top 10 things to do in Phoenix according to Trip Advisor. Tip for Visitors: the hike is about 1.5 hours to the point where the two trails meet, take lots of water, there is no parking except for on the side of the road along the golf course, and you will enter the trail head in a very fancy neighborhood.
We were gifted USA-made quality Wigwam Socks for our hike and a variety of healthy Beef jerky from LOL Jerky. Â (PS: if you want 10% Off your LoL Jerky purchase use the code HOUSEFUR10)
We had an amazing “last supper” on our final evening, we enjoyed a tapas dinner at FnB and we all fell asleep with happy tummies.
Before heading to the airport on Friday, we were able to fit in another hike. We hiked at Papago Park & this time we did make it to the top! I really loved this hike because I was able to enjoy the landscape and rock formations a lot more. I felt it was more of a relaxing hike in comparison to Camelback. There was a lot of loose gravel and my clumsy-self decided to take a tumble. I walked away with just a few bruises, scratches, and a smile.
We had a few hours to kill before we returned our rental car, so (of course) we got more tacos and then sat outside on the patio of Schmooze until it was time to leave for the airport.
Thank you so much for the sunshine and laughter, Arizona. I am jealous that people actually live there and call it “home.”
PS: Thank you Jess and Chris for sharing your week with us and for all the ridiculous car rides and hashtags we came up with. #dontdothat
I am already figuring out when we can go back! Do you live in Arizona? Have you ever visited? Where have you stayed? What did you eat? Where did you hike? I’d love to hear!

Caleb and Chris searched for a few days and found us a fantastic condo in Old Town with 2 bedrooms with our own bathrooms, a balcony porch, full kitchen, and heated pool. It was cost effective, the perfect location, and exactly we needed!
