Frey House II Tour -Albert Frey (1903-1998)

Since 1934, one of our time’s most prominent contemporary architects has lived and worked in Palm Springs. During his illustrious career, he designed over 200 buildings. These include the Palm Springs City Hall and the Aerial Tramway Valley Station alongside John Porter Clark.

His long-time home, Frey House ll, is set on a hillside near the west end of Tahquitz Canyon Way. These 30-minute self-guided visits, hosted by the Palm Springs Art Museum, offer a rare opportunity. The design concept is inspired by the colors and textures of the desert terrain and blends in smoothly. As you travel around the property’s 2-12 acre hillside location, take in the spectacular panoramic views from balconies, a pool, and hot tub, and secluded, covered lounging spots.

Mojave Modern, Sonoran Style with Alan Hess

Alan Hess, an architect, and historian, will discuss the history of Mojave and Sonoran desert architecture and how the American southwest has influenced current architectural trends and essential inventions.

Hidden Cody Tennis Club Villas

The Hidden Cody Tennis Club Villas are now open to the public. Explore these midcentury mansions built by William F. Cody, located near the historic Palm Springs Tennis Club and Spencer’s restaurant.

The thirteen original properties were built in the mid-1960s and included a model home furnished by renowned interior designer Arthur Elrod. Each house has a unique floor plan, Cody’s fantastic architecture, and full advantage of the stunning mountain vistas.
