Make the holiday season even more festive with this homemade Eggnog Coffee Creamer. A deliciously sweet and spiced flavor that pairs perfectly with your favorite coffee of choice.

Equipment

  • Medium Mixing Bowl or Large Glass Measuring Cup
  • Whisk or Rubber Spatula
  • Liquid Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Storage Jars (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk 14 ounces
  • 1 Cup Eggnog
  • 1 Cup Half and Half
  • ½ Tablespoon Rum Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg

Instructions

  • Starting with the sweetened condensed milk and ending with the nutmeg, place all the ingredients into a medium mixing bowl or large measuring glass (I used a 4 cup one) and whisk or stir until fully combined.
  • Use immediately or store in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days (this can vary on how close to out of date your half and half and eggnog are). Use fresh ingredients for best results. I use milk jars with lids or mason jars with lids for mine. I do not suggest freezing as the flavor comes out odd to me.
Shake before each use.
Do blend in a blender or you can cause thickening to occur.
Do not use pudding based eggnog. These are often called mock eggnog and are most often homemade. This will make the creamer extra thick and cause your coffee to gain a film at the top of it.
Unless you want to be buzzin’ in the morning, avoid eggnog that’s been spiked. I use basic store-bought eggnog.
If you need to use something other than half and half, opt for whole milk, evaporated milk, or even coconut milk.

How does the mix of eggnog and coffee taste?

The taste of a mixture of eggnog and coffee can be quite delightful and is often described as rich, creamy, and slightly sweet with a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon. The flavor will depend on the ratio of eggnog creamer to coffee and how you prepare it.

DIY Starbucks Homemade Eggnog Latte

Are you a fan of Starbucks Eggnog Latte and want to recreate it at home? Here’s my tried and true great recipe:

  1. Prepare your espresso in your coffee cup.
  2. On the stove in a medium saucepan heat together 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of eggnog for about 4-5minutes.
  3. Froth mixture using a milk frother. The milk will froth up and almost double in size. (If you don’t have a frother, there are a couple of alternative methods you can use to froth the heated milk and eggnog mixture. One option is to pour the mixture into a blender and blend for about 30 seconds. Alternatively, you can put the heated milk and eggnog mixture in a jar or cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 1 minute.)
  4. Pour mixture into your coffee cup and top with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg!
  5. Want to make your own eggnog? Here is a traditional recipe.

When making this eggnog latte at home, make sure to use fresh ingredients – nothing from a carton or a can! This will make the most creamy and delicious eggnog latte! Enjoy!

The secret to achieving this lies in the clever use of spices. Spices such as nutmeg with a hint of rum create a distinctive and enjoyable flavor for your morning coffee. These spices have the magical ability to bring holiday cheer and warmth into the sweet flavor of your homemade eggnog coffee creamer. Consider grating a little nutmeg over the top of the froth or stir in a dash of cinnamon for a subtly spiced, sweet flavor. The end result is a sumptuously creamy, sweetly spiced mug of coffee; a perfect way to start the day during eggnog season!

Eggnog Coffee Creamer FAQs

How much eggnog should I use as a coffee creamer?

Start with adding less eggnog than you would a typical creamer. This ensures that the coffee flavor isn’t overwhelmed by the eggnog. You can gradually increase the amount of eggnog to suit your taste.

What is the best way to store homemade eggnog coffee creamer?

The best way to store homemade eggnog coffee creamer is in an airtight container (such as a mason jar or these cute glass containers) inside your fridge. This ensures the creamer remains fresh and its flavors do not mix with the scents of other items in your fridge.

How long will the homemade eggnog coffee creamer last?

Homemade eggnog coffee creamer can last up to a week when stored properly in the refrigerator. This is shorter than store-bought creamer due to the absence of preservatives. Make sure to shake it well before each use, as ingredients may settle over time.

Can I use eggnog coffee creamer for other beverages?

Absolutely! Homemade eggnog coffee creamer can be used in other beverages like hot chocolate and tea. Add a splash of rum for an adult version, or mix it with some cocoa powder or vanilla extract for added richness. You could even incorporate it into a traditional eggnog recipe or a Starbucks eggnog latte.

Can you put eggnog creamer in tea?

Yes! Tea drinkers can enjoy the delicious flavor of eggnog creamer by adding it to their favorite tea. For an extra boost, try adding a splash of rum or other liquor for an adult beverage. Feel free to experiment with different levels of sweetness and spice, as well as additional flavors like cocoa powder or vanilla extract. Enjoy!
