Anytime is the perfect time of year to kickstart your health journey and an easy change to make to your diet is starting the day with a fresh juice.

Now, I’m not referring to the frozen concentrate stuff you pull out of the depths of your freezer, but rather, the delicious and nutritious juice that is freshly squeezed just minutes before you drink it.

When Caleb and I first started dating, we used to juice veggies a few times a week. But, over time we stopped. I think it was because I was annoyed that I had to take so many trips to the grocery store each week in order to have fresh produce for juicing. I also didn’t like our juicer because it was complicated and hard to clean.

But, if you’ve been following my stories on Instagram, you already know I found the perfect solution to my grocery store visit annoyance; Imperfect Foods (previously known as Imperfect Produce). And, we bought a new juicer!

The Benefits of Juicing

Drinking a glass of fruit and vegetable juice is an easy way to get one (or more!) of your daily servings. The US Department of Agriculture recommends that most adults eat 2 to 3 cups of vegetables and about 2 cups of fruit per day. That’s a lot! Chances are you don’t have the time or resources to get all of those servings in. One glass of juice, however, can provide you with several servings of fruits and veggies, and a wide variety too!

Cost-Effective Juicing

One of the main downsides of juicing, however, is the cost. Depending on where you live, fresh cold-pressed juice can cost more than $5 per serving! That quickly adds up if you are having several juices a week.

That’s where Imperfect Produce comes in. This produce delivery service sells fruits and vegetables that are too “ugly” for the grocery store. Grocery stores reject produce all the time.

Perhaps it might be misshape or is simply too small or too big for grocery stores to display. Imperfect Foods helps cut down on food waste by taking produce that would otherwise be discarded and delivering it to you. This is not only convenient and less wasteful but is also a cost-effective way to get more fruits and vegetables into your kitchen and ready for juicing.

My Favorite Juice Recipes

There are a literally hundreds of combinations you can try if you make your own juice, but I just want to share two of my favorites in case you’re looking for a place to get started:

  • 7-8 Carrots, 2 Apples, 2 Inch Section of Ginger Root, and 1 Lime
  • 3 Beets, 4 Carrots,2 Apples, and 1 Lemon

I would love to hear from you if you try them! Happy juicing!
