Rise and Dine with The Best Milwaukee Breakfast Spots
Fuel Cafe
Fuel Cafe is one of my most favorite cafes in the city! I love the atmosphere, the music, the staff, the food, and most importantly – the candy bar inspired coffee drinks! My go-to is the Almond Boy over ice and an extra shot of espresso! Hours: Monday – Saturday 9am – 9pm, Sunday 9am-3pm
Beans And Barley
Established in 1973, this specialty store and restaurant is the 2018 winner of the TripSavvy Editors Choice Award for the best breakfast and brunch restaurant. The restaurant is known for its farm-to-table mantra, it’s organic-foods market and deli, and also its delicious pancakes, frittatas, and huevos rancheros. Not only is the quality of food amazing but the low prices make Beans And Barley a winning combination for any breakfast buff.
You can enjoy breakfast here any day of the week starting at 8am!
Press.
Since 2015, Press. has served authentic Belgian Liege waffles at area farmers markets, festivals, and private events. Their delectable brioche-based dough is made locally by hand from their very own recipe!
As Press. waffles cook, the imported Belgian pearl sugar within the dough caramelizes on the outside leaving sweet pillowy pockets on the inside! Their new cafe in Milwaukee’s Third Ward features their show-stopping waffles, alongside a selection of baguette sandwiches, soups, salads, and drinks including coffee, espresso, and soon wine!
Blue’s Egg
Even though Blue’s Egg is located in far-west Milwaukee, it has not stopped the breakfast fanatics from coming out. This hot-spot breakfast restaurant has perfected the idea of the modern American brunch through the eyes of Lady Liberty. Not only blending Old World ingredients but bringing in the vision of American immigrant cooking with the creativity of fresh concepts. These ideas have created delicious and hearty comfort food dishes that include scrumptious favorites like the eggs Benedict, “The Dubliner;” poached eggs, corned beef, creamy leeks, rye toast, and the creamy polenta. It’s an impeccable venue to fill up on your breakfast faves.
Blue’s Egg is open from 7 am-2 pm every day!
Cafe Benelux
Located in the Third Ward across from the Public Market, Cafe Benelux features food & brews from Belgium, The Netherlands & Luxembourg. If you have a chance, request a table on their outdoor patio or rooftop patio. I love their sister restaurant, Cafe Centraal, too! Their from-scratch menus feature everything from regional favorites like mussels and frites to innovative sandwiches and entrees!
Cafe At the Pfister
If you’re looking for more of that cafe feel to start your morning then the Cafe At the Pfister is the must-try place for you. Not only do you get to eat your breakfast classics with a cafe atmosphere, but the generous serving sizes and the reasonable prices make it a great start to your day. Whether you are staying at the Pfister Hotel or you just head to the cafe because of their amazing reviews, it’s an excellent choice to indulge in some breakfast staples like their giant cinnamon roll!
Cafe Pfister serves breakfast Monday-Sunday from 6:00 am – 11:00 am – Yum!!
Don’s>> Now, Don’s TV Repair Speakeasy
If you’re looking to sit in a hole-in-the-wall-type diner, Don’s Diner will be right up your alley.
Upon entering, you’ll notice; the atmosphere is cozy and vintage (I love their glassware), they play goofy cartoons on the TVs at the bar, and they serve ridiculously huge boozy milkshakes. I got one during the NBA playoffs last year and it came in a take-home Bucks pint glass – it was so delicious and way more than I needed!
They love supporting local farmers and offer delicious comfort-food menu options making Don’s Diner a winner in our book!
Their menu features unique & Instagram-worthy Ice Cream & S’mores Cocktails, decadent dinner & brunch options, and the best Martini lunch deal in the city!
You can enjoy breakfast at Don’s Diner Wednesday -Thursday & Sunday from 9 am -9 pm and Friday & Saturday from 9 am – 11 pm. Don’s Diner & Cocktails serves weekend brunches, weekday lunch, and dinner, reservations OR getting there early is recommended!
The National Cafe
If you follow my photography company’s social media accounts, you’ll know that The National is our go-to spot before we photograph a Milwaukee wedding.
We always order the same thing: 1 regular coffee, 1 iced americano, 1 ultimate breakfast sandwich (with ham & spinach), and a 7 layer bar.
You can enjoy all the deliciousness The National has to offer Tuesday – Sunday from 7:30am-3pm. The National has beer, wine, and mimosas.
I love the National Cafe for so many reasons; the food, the owner Angie, the staff, and the window seating.
Birch + Butcher
Open, airy, and bright, with an exposed kitchen and the home of Milwaukee’s only open-fire hearth, Birch + Butcher is a locally sourced, feel-good brunch spot in the heart of Brewer’s Hill, Milwaukee.
In addition to breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour, Birch + Butcher hosts private events. They have patio seating as well, which is an excellent bonus in my opinion!
We love going here for brunch – I wrote a whole post about it!
Sabrosa Cafe & Gallery
Sabrosa Cafe & Gallery continues to delight guests with scrumptious dishes and welcoming hospitality! They strive to make every visit a memorable dining experience with their great staff and rotating art gallery. Their breakfast menu is inspired by a blend of traditional homemade recipes prepared to please your pallet. They only use only fresh, seasonal ingredients that deliver the most delicious flavors and robust goodness! Big News! One of Milwaukee’s best brunch restaurants, Sabrosa Cafe & Gallery is now serving dinner in the Third Ward! Their flagship location in Bay View serves Milwaukee’s best breakfast & lunch — now also open in the Broadway Theatre Center! Hours: Wednesday and Thursday: 8:00 am – 2:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am – 9:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
