As you all know by now I am obsessed with houseplants. We have them in our bathroom, sunroom, kitchen, foyer, living room, hallway, entry way, and even our bedroom. I’ve even started to run out of room for floor planters that we’ve started hanging them!

Plants in hanging planters can create a calm relaxed environment – perfect for the bedroom!

Hanging plants will add a unique feature to your bedroom and may even double as a great way to cleanse the air!

Whether you are looking to make your rooms look brighter, more bohemian aka: “boho” or make your bedroom feel like a jungle, there are various types of hanging plants to fit your individual taste.

Are you looking for new ideas to add more character to your bedroom?

Hanging Plants For The Bedroom;

Here are My Top Picks for the Best Hanging Houseplants to Decorate & Cleanse Your Bedroom

1) Air Plants (Tillandsia)

The technical name for these easy to care for houseplants is Tillandsia. Tillandsia Air Plants require very little care and are great for small spaces or for your bedroom because they do not take up too much room. You can place one of the plants by itself, or create your own design out of a bunch of Air Plants on an entire wall. All you have to do is soak the air plants for 30 minutes and let dry overnight, once every two weeks! Tillandsias are a wonderfully delicate way to add a simple, yet elegant addition to the hanging houseplants in your bedroom.

2) Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum)

If you are looking for a more tropical feel to your bedroom, spider plants might be a plant that pique your interest!

They a very easy to plant, which also makes it perfect for individuals who are just starting to decorate using hanging plants in their bedroom. Spider Plants are perfect for a sunny bedroom (or any room that offers plenty of natural sunlight.) Spider plants will brighten up any space used for relaxation, making it one of the best hanging plants for your bedroom. We have one in our guest bathroom because it gets plenty of light and loves the humidity.

3) String of Pearls

Senecio rowleyanus, commonly known as string of pearls, is a creeping, perennial, succulent vine of the family Asteraceae. String of Pearls plant are just plain cute. They like to be near the window with strong natural light for a few hours a day and then indirect light for the rest of the day.

During the growing seasons (spring and summer) you can keep the soil moist, but during the winter it needs significantly less water. If you see that its leaves are flattening, it needs more water. It’s leaves should resemble perfectly round balls, or “pearls.”

4) Wandering Jew (Pink & White Variation)

This plant grows incredibly fast and is sometimes considered evasive – but I love it so much! As it grows and matures it will start to hang over the edge of the hanging planter. I have mine in our bay window in the foyer and it has started growing up the window.

This unique houseplant requires 5+ hours of bright indirect light. If you don’t provide enough light the pink color will start to fade, but will brighten back up once it gets adequate light.

5) Burro’s Tail (Sedum Morganianum)

Succulents in general are an excellent way to add character to any bedroom. We have so many scattered throughout our home in our bathrooms, living room, foyer, sunroom, and even in our kitchen. Succulents come in a large variety of shapes, sizes, and colors so they can work in nearly any room in your home!

I love this specific succulent because of the braided pattern it makes as it grows AND because of it’s nickname, Burro’s Tail.

Burro’s Tail are extremely low maintenance and are easy to care for when they are in hanging planters because they need very little attention.

6) Double Dip Devil’s Ivy (Epipremnum Aureum

I love Double Dip Devil’s Ivy because the leaves are two-toned (green & white) and look beautiful in our minimalist gray-walled bedroom. This plant is one of the best hanging plants for the bedroom because it will do well in both indirect light or low-light. Devil’s Ivy will need watering when soil is dry to the touch and I only recommend fertilizing it during its growing months (Spring & Summer).
